Ophthalmologist Improving Access to Eye Care Through Clinical Practice, Outreach Programs, and Medical Writing

I am a practicing ophthalmologist based in Tanzania with experience in clinical care, surgical training, and community eye health programs aimed at improving access to quality eye care. My work spans hospital-based services, outreach eye programs, and collaborations with NGOs to strengthen primary eye care systems and promote early detection of preventable blindness. I completed MMED Ophthalmology at Muhimbili Univeristy and phacoemulsification training at Aravind Eye Hospital, enhancing my surgical skills and exposure to high-volume, high-quality cataract services. Through collaborations with organizations such as TanzanEye a German NGO working to imporve eyecare in West Tanzania and Mbuyu Foundation which collaborates with SpecSaver Nordic countries on ptoviding free outreach programmes in Zanzibar particularly free glasses delivery, I have participated in outreach programs focused on capacity building for community health workers and improving referral pathways for early eye disease detection in collaboration with TanzanEye. My professional interests include cataract surgery, tele-ophthalmology, eye health systems strengthening, medical education, and public health approaches to blindness prevention. I am also open to collaborations in medical writing, research support, and eye health advisory projects.
